Your degree-hour balance

One degree-hour is one degree above or below your default setpoint for one hour, measured for your own residence. Spend them for extra warmth, earn them by giving some back.

Spend

+2 °C for 3 hours = 6 degree-hours

The app shows the cost in degree-hours before you confirm a boost.

Earn

Lower your setpoint during a peak period

When the network is under peak load, giving up a little comfort earns degree-hours, with a bonus during peak events.

How the balance works

  • Your monthly allowance is added on the first of each month.
  • Unused allowance rolls over, up to a cap.
  • One degree-hour always stands for the same amount of energy in your residence, whether you spend it or earn it.
  • Boosting in very cold weather uses more degree-hours.
  • If the balance is empty, your comfort band is still guaranteed. Only boosts pause.

Why your price is personal

The same band, and the same boost, cost different amounts in different homes. We take into account:

Residence size

Larger homes need more heat to hold the same temperature, so the same boost costs more.

Building and heating

Insulation, radiator type and your building's heating system.

Residents and habits

Number of people, and for example bathtub or electric radiators.

Local climate

Typical heating demand where you live.
